Central Application Clearing House (CACH) opened its applications portal on 20 January 2025. The CACH applications portal will stay open until 31 March 2025. However, to be eligible to apply, you fall within the category of students who matriculated from 2000 onwards. And have not received firm offers from tertiary institutions.
The Central Application Clearing House (CACH) programme is basically for students who have not been admitted into higher institutions. Using CACH is beneficial as it protects students from falling victim to fraudsters and fake universities. CACH only collaborates with reputable and verified institutions.
CACH University Coverage
CACH works with all 26 public universities in South Africa. This includes:

How to Apply for CACH 2025
Honestly, applying for CACH is very easy and simple, all you need is your cell phone to send through your application. How can you do this?
- The first method is to send CACH a text on WhatsApp at this number: 078 776 8660
- The second method is to email your name, surname, cell number and ID number to cach2020@dhet.gov.za and the CACH will call you back.
If you however prefer to apply online then the guide below will help you out.
- First is to visit the CACH website: https://cach.cas.ac.za/
- Click on the “Login” button
- Then click on “LEARNER SIGN-UP” in the green bar
- Click on “Sign-Up Online NOW”
- Enter your ID number (if you are a South African citizen) or passport number (if you are a foreign student)
- You will then be required to fill in your details and contact details
- Agree to the Terms & Conditions and submit your application
- You will get a confirmation that your application has been submitted
No documents are required. This is because CACH receives matric results from the Department of Basic Education.
And once you are done signing up on the CACH website, no further application is needed and institutions will contact students directly.
CACH Application Closing Date
The Central Application Clearing House (CACH) applications for the 2025 academic year are due to close on the 31st of March 2025. Also, note that applications coming after this date will not be considered.
